Today’s mission of IT says "Bring value". The business demand on IT is growing pushing CIOs to make new steps to align their operations with the business needs and be capable of satisfying the demand. "Run like a Business" has become a common mantra for many of today’s IT organizations. What does it mean to "Run like a Business"? A business knows what it delivers to a customer, knows what they charge and what it costs, the difference being profit. IT Service Management is a strategic approach to managing IT application services, the business product of an IT organization, from a process perspective. However, IT is no longer about technology only, management is facing the challenge to include IT in their complete operations portfolio. It means that the same rules and policies applied to other departments shall be applicable to IT as well. That includes the financial justification and budget usage. IT investments go through the same evaluation process as any other investment decisions taken out on the top level of management. This paper discusses modern financial methods of measuring effectiveness of IT projects and focuses on ROI - a widely used measure in real business contracts.

Beginning 2003, the Education Ministry of Malaysia implemented a new policy of teaching Mathematics and Science in English. The rationale for teaching Maths. and Science in English is to enhance understanding of these subjects, as well as to enable Malaysians to keep up with the latest developments and compete in these two areas through English. This study examines the language needs of a group of secondary school Science teachers, in particular their perceptions of their English language needs. The perceptions of the Principal of the school and the Head of the Science Dept. about the English language needs of these Science teachers were also examined. Data were obtained through questionnaires, interviews and classroom observation. The findings indicate that the teachers perceived that they needed to improve their speaking skills and grammar. The Principal and the Head of the Science Dept. also perceived the main English language needs of the teachers as being speaking and grammar. The findings derived from this study can be used to design an appropriate English course for the teachers so that they can teach Science in English more confidently and effectively.
Recognising an informal carers’ voice in caring for a loved one with dementia is an overlooked area in the current literature and therefore the study provides some light to this concern. Semi-structure interviews were employed with Interpretative analysis was employed in order to explore the participants’ experiences and views; therefore an appropriate methodology for the study. The results highlighted the following master themes in relation to understanding support: Burden in ‘caring’, social/group therapy and emotional needs. The findings highlighted how the carers in the current study value support: that makes them feel capable, that being part of a shared support group is uplifting and an issue overlooked was how needed emotional support was; yet lacking. Therefore the implications would suggest further research is needed into providing emotional support provisions.
