Daryl Guppy Market Trading Tactics. Beating the Odds Through Technical Analysis and Money Management
A veteran hockey writer takes on hockey culture and the NHL–addressing the games most controversial issue Whether its on-ice fist fights or head shots into the glass, hockey has become a nightly news spectacle–with players pummeling and bashing each other across the ice like drunken gladiators. And while the NHL may actually condone on-ice violence as a ticket draw, diehard hockey fan and expert Adam Proteau argues against hockeys transformation into a thuggish blood sport. In Fighting the Good Fight, Proteau sheds light on the many perspectives of those in and around the game, with interviews of current and former NHL stars, coaches, general managers, and league executives, as well as medical experts. One of the most well-known media figures on the hockey scene today, famous for his funny, feisty observations as a writer for the Toronto Star and The Hockey News and commentator on CBC radio and TV, Adam Proteau is also one of the few mainstream media voices who is vehemently anti-fighting in hockey. Not only is his book a plea to the games gatekeepers to finally clamp down on the runaway violence that permeates the sport even at its highest level, he offers realistic suggestions on ways to finally clean the game up. • Includes interviews with medical experts on head injuries and concussions, as well as with other members of the media • The author not only wages an attack on the value of fighting in hockey–but also on the establishment hockey culture Covering the most polarizing issue in hockey today, Fighting the Good Fight gives hockey fans and sports lovers everywhere a reason to stamp their feet and whistle–at a rare display of eloquence and common sense. Local knowledge of woody species management and their contribution in traditional agroforestry practice has been there through centuries in Ethiopia. Nevertheless, very little of this knowledge has been recorded even none in Banja district. Objectives were to: identify traditional agroforestry practices; inventorize woody species, their distribution and management; identify contribution of woody species to income generation and understand knowledge of communities. Informal and formal surveys and tree inventory were taken. Results indicated that farmers can manage agroforestry components. About 26 woody species were inventoried at 54 farms that deliberately retained for immense contribution. Mean of 1349 and 6546 stems per head and per hectare respectively were recorded. Gender decision making role in tree management was differing. It was concluded that woody species distributions and contributions for wood and cash-income for the livelihood of household were profound in the area. The farmers’ knowledge of tree management was also remarkable. Further inventory on specie distributions at niches and contribution is required to fully understand farmer’s knowledge.
This study examines the determinants of household income diversification and its effect on food security status in rural Ethiopia. To accomplish this, we use household panel data from ERHS approximately 896 households for three years data with five years gaps. We use fixed and random effects models to remove the effect of unobserved household characteristics that may be correlated with household income diversification behavior. We also employed instrumental variable in combination of 2SLS to address the possibility of endogenity of the level of income diversification in food security status equation. To examine the determinants of level of household income diversification we used random effect model based on the Hausman test result. The regression result suggests that number of adult household members, access to credit, farm size and livestock holding determines the level of income diversification of households. Positively and significantly while age of the household head, distance from the nearest market, households with higher education and availability soil conservation on their plot determines negatively and significantly.

Using public opinion survey data from Arab Barometer Project Wave I, this study investigates the relationship income and education and support for democracy in six Arab countries: Yemen, Morocco, Palestine, Algeria, Lebanon, and Jordan. Unlike related studies, this study focuses specifically on the Arab world and uses individual-level instead of country-level data. Some previous studies using country-level data found no relationship between income and education on the one hand and democracy on the other, when controlling for country fixed effects. This study confirms this finding, concluding that the relationship disappears in a fully specified model that includes country controls.
